Not Living by What Our Eyes See, But by Faith

106 ( 91 | 15 )

In life it is for us to receive what each day brings in faith. Israel had known of the long promised Messiah and that there would be an amazing prophet as a forerunner to His coming, preparing the way. This prophet would figuratively make the rough ground a smooth plain. Faithful and godly, old priest Zechariah, with his equally elderly wife are given the honour of being John the Baptist's parents. However, considering their age, Zechariah asks the angel, "How will I know this for certain?" There is the battle, to live by faith, often despite sight, not looking left and right to our consuming constraints but to the Father. Whatever the Father calls or leads us into, it is the Father who is always working and He will accomplish His purpose. It is never dependent on our natural abilities or strengths, but on Him.
