Ecclesiastes 6 may be the most depressing, most brutal chapter in all of Scripture. Life is meaningless, futile, a vain, empty pursuit under the sun. Why would the Preacher write such hard words? To wean us of this pointless life and to point us to eternity, which is a gift from God.
