The Christian Longing & Christian Living - Part 4
Series The Christian Longing
Scripture reading & first minute or two of audio missing - our fault.
Summary of missing minute of audio:
Introduction: What are you afraid of?—snakes, the dark, loneliness…
There are some strange psychotic phobias (traumatic, intense, and irrational fears), e.g. gravity, germs, peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth, turning left in an automobile…
But there are common fears which promote physical and mental health. We all recognize the fundamental difference between someone who is fearless and courageous in a moment of danger and someone who is a daredevil or has a death wish; one is heroic and the other foolish.
There is a healthy Biblical phrase which seems to have fallen out of usage, i.e. “God fearing”.
Jesus said, “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both body and soul in hell.” (Matt. 10:28)
