John uses considerable symbolism in the third appearance of the risen Lord recorded in his Gospel. The theme of the epilogue is how Jesus will relate to His followers after He returns to the Father. In contrast to the first miraculous catch (Luke 5:1-11) with this last miraculous catch is that in the first, Jesus was with them in the boat, but in the last, He was on the shore.
