Desire spiritual gifts: On the work of the Spirit

On cessationism and continuism. The sermon pleads for a historic version of cessationism rather than the modern extreme. There is some technical discussion followed by application. What does all this have to do with us? And is there something wrong with the Church?

The position espoused here differs from many in the evangelical and reformed churches, but is in keeping with the teaching of the Westminster standards as well as the views of the puritans (such as Rutherford, Mather, Flavel and Welch), Charles Spurgeon and others.
