Jesus and John's Disciples

This passage recounts a third episode in which John the Baptist testified to Jesus. In this instance, he bore this witness to his own disciples who came to him concerned about Jesus' baptizing activity. These disciples, though devoted to the Baptist and his teaching, failed to rightly discern Jesus the Messiah and so also their rabbi who announced Him to Israel. These disciples, like Nicodemus and those who'd witnessed Jesus' signs in Jerusalem, were among the "unbelieving believers" in Israel.
