Born Again

The Jews that questioned Jesus asked Him for a sign of His authority. Jesus' cleansing of the Temple was in itself a sign according to Malachi 3, but they wanted more. They did not understand what Jesus meant by His reply, 'Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up' (2:19), but His disciples did at a later time. John 2:23 says that during the week of the Feast of Unleavened bread that Jesus was doing signs which caused many to believe in Him. It is during this time that we pick up the story in John 3 about Jesus' encounter with a man named Nicodeums and what it means to be "born again."
