Our Elder Brother

Hebrews 2:11-13, which includes three Old Testament quotations, supports the fitness of the Captain of our salvation being perfected through sufferings by setting forth the union with, the association with, the identification with and solidarity of Jesus with his people. Jesus and His people being "all of one" (2:11), "He is not ashamed to call them brethren." The quotations from Psalm 22:22 and Isaiah 8:17 & 8:18 support this fraternal relation of Jesus with His people.
