The Church Is Built Upon Jesus Christ

Jesus said to Peter that He was going to build His church upon a rock: an immovable foundation that would endure through the shifting sands of time. But what is the rock upon which the church is built? Is it Simon Peter, as Roman Catholics contend? Or was it Peter's confession, as some Protestants contend? The church is built upon the One whom Peter confessed: Jesus Christ. He and He alone is the Head, Foundation, and Chief Cornerstone of His church.
