Christological Salvation - Part 2

215 ( 108 | 107 )

Here we see the climax of Paul's Christology in Philippians.

From 2:5-8, we saw that the very essence of being God was neither grasping nor exploiting His divinity.
As God, Christ is the very expression of God's love, becoming a slave and ultimately dying a shameful death upon a cross.

However, as God, Christ also expresses the glory of God as the Sovereign King of the entire creation.

Last time we saw Christ's first leg on His 'road to glory' - namely incarnation & crucifixion. Here we see the final 2 stops: resurrection & coronation.

Christ is vindicated by the Father. Why? That all homage will be paid to God the Son, to the glory of God the Father.

This sums up God's purpose in everything. His glory in subjecting all to His Son.

Every knee will bow before Jesus, every tongue confess He is Lord (Yahweh). What a glorious encouragement to the suffering Christians under 'lord' Nero. What a glorious comfort to us today!
