Woe Unto the Uncaring, Decadent, Lazy and Those Who Trust in Religion

-Amos continued to preach the message of judgment but Israel didn't want to know

Woe unto them

1 That are at ease in Zion and trust in the mountain of Samaria
-They trusted in their places of worship
-GOD pronounces a woe on complacency

2 That put far away the evil day
-They put the thought of a day of judgment for their sin far from their minds
-This actually brings the day of judgment closer

3 Who are self pampering, lazy and decadent
-Lazy and decadent - sprawled on beds of ivory

4 Who make up entertainment worship pretending that they are spiritual like David
-Sloppy, careless, improvised, worldly, carefree worship

5 Insulated and uncaring about the state of Israel
-They weren't grieved (sick) at their debauchery

conclusion and application
-Are things looking up for the Church of Christ
-Legally
-Spiritually
-Doctrinally
-Obediently
-In this, our land
