Idol Worship

God has freed his people from bondage in an idolatrous nation, and yet no sooner are they freed from the shackles of false worship that they seek to return to it again and again in the desert even making an image of God in the form of a Golden Calf and thus specifically violating his clear commandment not to worship him via images.

But it is not just the people of God in the Old Testament who are guilty of desiring to worship according to the empty traditions of the world, the flesh, and the devil, the church in every age has been all too prone to cast away the liberty to worship according to God's commands and instead place the yoke of obedience to men's worship traditions, imaginations, and inventions on their necks.
