False Hopes for Victory

127 ( 46 | 81 )

The king is not saved by a mighty army, nor by the strength of his warriors, nor by his horses. Think of all the things that would seem to matter most -- resources, superior strategy, advance weaponry, etc. All are a false hope for victory. The fundamental and central questions -- indeed the only question that truly matters -- in war or in any other problem we face is this: Is the Lord for us or against us? When Israel won battles against her enemies, she won because the Lord fought for her. When she lost, it was because God fought against her. If God is for us, who can be against us? But if God is against us, who can be for us? Therefore, we should trust in God alone and seek His face.
