Judah's spiritual contamination

Spiritual contamination is an ever-present danger in the life of the church of Jesus Christ. The evil influence of Ahab and his family finds its way into Judah as the result of a marriage alliance. It contaminates not only the lives of King Joram and King Ahaziah but also the life of the nation of Judah. The evil these kings did before God leads to the Lord purging David's line of this evil. Both Joram and Ahaziah will die prematurely as God begins to remove all those associated with the house of Ahab. What will happen then to Judah: will the nation go the way of Israel? It would, but for the Lord's grace and the promised preservation of David's line. This is a promise fulfilled ultimately in Jesus Christ, great David's greater Son.
