Rise Up, O Men Of God! (Eph 5:22-6:4)
Introduction
The gospel is not just something to be believed. It is something to be lived. “The divine family ceases to be a credible concept if it is not itself subdivided into human families which display God's love” (Stott).

How does this apply to me? Ephesians 4:15-16, Titus 2:4-5, etc. This is everybody's business, because we are one body and we need each other.

Exposition

1. This is a passage on responsibilities.

2. The overwhelming majority of the passage is addressed to the husband and father.

3. Men bear a particular spiritual responsibility (and authority, and accountability to God) for wives (5:26-29) and children (6:4) for their spiritual nurture.

Doctrine
Someone in your home is responsible for the sins, the spots, the blemishes or rather the holiness, the sanctification the cleansing application of the word of God to the people that live at your address. And men, it's you.

Application

1. To wives and children: If this is God's design for your blessing, growth, and instruction, wives, children, this is the kind of husband and father you need.

2. To fathers and elders: Allowing our church to usurp this spiritual responsibility is unbiblical and ungodly, and extremely detrimental to the spiritual health of each family.

3. To the unconverted: The family of God is real, and the truth of it is seated next to you.
