The Call and Blessing of Abram

The powerful and sobering events of Genesis 1–11 set the stage for God's gracious dealings with a man from Ur named Abram. His life is upended by God's gracious call and promise, for through Abram God will create a people for his own possession, a people who are blessed with eternal life in the midst of a world of death. Abram's story is one of God's great grace and his sure promise. It's a story that defines us as well, so long as we share the faith of Abram and cling to the promises that are fulfilled in Christ. Let us live according to the promises of God, knowing that he is sure and faithful to keep each one!
