What Do Earthquakes Tell Us? Stop loving the earth, this life. They're not dependable

517 ( 496 | 21 )

After a 7.2 Major Earthquake, we get more mail than usual. Our pastor reads two and says he'll get to more of them at a later date. Thanks so much to Vic from New Hampshire and Stewart from Ireland for the kind words. You have no idea how much you all mean to us and our lone pastor.

We're going to examine Joel 2:10 because it talks about earthquakes!

Our pastor was in Anchorage back in the '64, 9.2, Five and a half Minute duration, Great Alaskan Earthquake. So, last Friday, when he heard the noise, he knew what was happening. You'll want to hear the experience of what this man went through back then... and with this one.

Jesus Christ makes earthquakes at His death and resurrection. And pastor goes over a bunch of other earthquakes in the Bible. This leads us back to when the ground (earth) was cursed in Genesis 3:17. Notice the ground - not Adam - is cursed, for our sake. And then, in John 11, Jesus connects Genesis 3:17 with the death of Lazarus, by saying, "...for your sake".

So, what does an earthquake tell us? The earth in not stable; not dependable. And people want to worship the earth?

Now our pastor goes over passages that deal with, "The Day of The Lord", in which, the earth will be burnt to nothing. Maybe He's telling us to stop loving the earth, and stop loving this life we have here... For Our Sakes.

Okay, back to John 11. What does Jesus Christ, God, mean when He says He is glad for their sakes that He is not there? He wants the people there to believe that He is God. He's always saving! What makes Him joyful? Salvation! What makes Him weep? People not believing, not being saved!

Alright, I think I've thrown enough at you. Press play.
