Before we enter Bethlehem on Christmas morning, I would like for us to scale back a little. We are going to step back from the birth of Christ. This morning, we are not going to look at His glorious conception. Today, I want us to get a BIG picture view of the grandeur of God with us. We are not even going to start in the New Testament. Please open your Bibles to Isaiah 46.
Last week, we looked at Jesus, Our All-Powerful Savior. I opened my heart and shared a glimpse of my story. I allowed you to see the dark side of this man and the glorious transformative power of the gospel of Jesus Christ in my life. I believe the Scriptures teach that God knows us. Our existence has been planned of God. Prior to the night of your conception, God knew He would fearfully and wonderfully make you in the womb of your mother. He knew you would enter this world and its brokenness. There is not a single perfect family. Every one of them contains the fingerprints of sin, falleness, and death. Every minute detail of your story God has been watching out for you. He has not written the last period of your earthly story and journey through life. We are here today. He has a purpose for you! Our ultimate purpose is to bring Him glory by loving Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. This morning, it is my prayer that you can catch a glimpse of God and be mesmerized by His glory and goodness, because it is God who is directing all of History. Our title will be God’s Direction of History. We will consider from Isaiah 46 the following 1) God has Carried You 2) God Made You and Sustains You 3) God directs History.
