Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers
Edification means to build others up. Impart grace to others.
You represent Christ in the world and these things grieve Him represent Him poorly to the world. The tongue matters, that is why God spent such a large portion of His Word dealing with it.
