- “in…hope…saved” - salvation now owned
- salvation as now owned includes “hope”
- HOPE IS NOW SET ON THE COMPLETION OF SALVATION
- hope is different to “wishful thinking”
- hope came with the Holy Spirit (v.23a)
- so there is sureness in this hope!
- “we wait with patience” - perseveringly
- the present stage marked by sufferings
- eagerness must not overtake patience
- patience must not kill eagerness
- this is the Christianity of the Bible!
