TAKE HEED TO THE DOCTRINE, PART 1
TEXT: 1 Timothy 4:13-16

SUMMARY: In order to accurately reflect the message and mindset of Christ and the Apostles, the gospel we preach MUST acknowledge the greatness of salvation, and must accurately define salvation according to the Scripture.

I. OUR MESSAGE MUST EMPHASIZE THE GREATNESS OF SALVATION.
A. Bumper Sticker Salvation.
B. Scriptural Salvation:
• a narrow escape.
• a gracious gift.
• a precious possession.

II. OUR GOSPEL MESSAGE MUST ACCURATELY PRESENT THE TRUTHS OF SCRIPTURE REGARDING SALVATION.
A. The Sacrifice of Christ and its Meaning.

1. Three important truths:
   • Redemption.
   • Reconciliation.
   • Propitiation.

2. Their implications:
   • a serious salvation.
   • an electing salvation,
   • a God-centered salvation,

B. The Love of God and its Application.

1. The Love of God is a divine attribute.
2. The Love of God is a family issue.

APPLICATION & CONCLUSION:
A. Don't have a Bible-tract mentality.
B. Don't be presumptuous about God and His Word.
