Ears to Hear

Jesus continued His preaching tour through the cities proclaiming the kingdom of God (Luke 8:1). As the crowds came to hear Him, He warned, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear" (Luke 8:8). He followed this admonition with the parable of the Sower, showing the four kinds of soil (the hearing ear) on which the seed (the Word of God) fell. Explaining the meaning of the parable to the disciples, Jesus concluded with the admonition, "Take care then how you hear."
