The sword's description

Most swords are mass produced, and as a result a hefty price is in order to make a sword to a specific order. Remember Goliath was anywhere from 9 ½ feet to 12 feet tall a common 2 foot long sword wouldn't work for him. His frame required extra length. His muscles meant more metal would be employed to wield it properly. It's style had to reflect it's owner. This sword (most likely over 4' long) wouldn't be for thrusting, it's too big, it would be used in a chopping motion. It would have had a 2 handed grip with possibly an extra grip just passed the cross guard do to it's length. In order to have control over your swing both hands were needed, but that meant you were completely in it's power as well. Its weight means you must have your feet planted properly or it will carry you to the ground with it. That same weight will also slow down the one who carry's it around. Maybe not at first but eventually you will get tired from it. Especially if you are not built for that sword yourself. It commanded awe and respect but it was an impractical trophy for the average man. I believe David realized this and that is why he turned it over to the tabernacle to begin with.
