Jesus Recognized

The gospel of John was written "so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name" (John 20:31). With this purpose in mind, John opens his good news with a focus on Jesus as "the Word" of God - the personal, powerful, profound communication of God from heaven. Through the expression of "the Word", Jesus as Creator of all things, brings life and light to a dead, dark world. The Life-giver was revealed to all men; the One who keeps on giving light will always shine brightly; the darkness of this fallen world system will never overcome "the Word".
