Jesus Appointed Heir

Jesus: The Shadow's Substance - Message 1 - The Book of Hebrews, a sermon in written form, teaches us that Christ is superior to all that is. He is the substance of what is foreshadowed in the Old Covenant. As a result of Who He is, the preacher reminds a group of wavering Jewish believers why they need not be lured back to the shadows in their religious belief and practice. We find in the first 4 verses and assurance that God has spoken to us in times past in various ways and now in these last days through His Son, who is His appointed Heir. Christ is the Creator and Controller of all that is. He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords, and He will reign forever and ever. So what does it mean to us today that Jesus has ended the incessant sacrifices of the Old Covenant? What does it mean that He is the express image of the Father and that He radiates God's glory? What does it mean that He has purged our sins by Himself? It means that salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. His Work is a finished work and there is nothing we can add to it. Do we truly have confidence in Christ, the God-man and Mediator of the New Covenant?
