The Letter To The Church At Smyrna
Series Book of Revelation
The letter to the church at Smyrna.
Why would we be interested in the problems of a few churches 2,000 years ago? Because the Lord has chosen to devote some 10 percent of this book to those 7 churches...this message is directed to the entire church of Christ throughout all time.
The Christian life is a militant one. Our mission is to fill, subdue and exercise dominion over the earth as God's vice-regents (the Dominion Covenant, Gen. 1:28), to convert and disciple all the nations (the Great Commission, Mt. 28:18-20; Mk. 16:15-18; Lk. 24:47-49; Jn 17:20, et al) and thus to bring all creation under the Kingship of Christ (Eph. 1:10, 22; Col 1:16-18, 20; Heb. 1:2-3, 2:8, 10; cf. Rom 11:36; I Cor. 15:27-28; Eph. 4:10; Phil. 3:21; Rev. 15:4, etc., etc.)
Evanjellyfish think that Christians are to tread water and wait for Jesus to come back and rescue them. The Bible commands Christians to subdue the earth for Christ the King, and promises victory -- the Christianization of the world -- in human history!
