The Lampstand and the Altar of Incense

After the ark of the covenant and the table of showbread, the next thing that Bezalel made was the golden lampstand. The lampstand is a picture of how Christ is the light of the world and that light comes from the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. The lampstand was made out of one piece of gold whose weight including the weight of the utensils was a talent. The other piece of furniture that was inside the tabernacle, the altar of incense, was what was made next. The burning on the altar represents the prayers of the saints. It is important to remember that while the furniture was important, since the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit and the church are represented, what they do is also important: mercy, provision, light and prayer. Too often the church just wants to be and not to do. Doing is represented in the tabernacle as well.
