The Divorce Dilemma Jesus and the Old Testament

321

God has established marriage for many reasons, but when it comes to identifying Biblical leadership it is the best way to identify those who are qualified to be in leadership in God's church.
Peter stated marriage is the grace of life. Paul tells Timothy, the attitude that a potential leader in the church holds towards marriage says everything about his qualities as a spiritual and moral example which God requires in His leadership for the church. Not only must a man be the “husband of one wife, but” he must also manage his own household well.” As we said this does not mean that the qualified man must be married. But, that his commitment to God's Biblical standard for marriage manifestly displays that the qualified pastor/elder or deacon will, and must affirm the Biblical teachings of God, concerning marriage. The effect of this knowledge is that he will show his adherence to the Lord's teachings by the way he conducts himself with his wife and child/children.
There is no better place to see how a spiritual and moral leader will fair, than when looking at their nurturing and growing; guiding and teaching of a spouse and children.
How a man husbands and fathers is the first ministry that every man has, and how he handles the adversities of that union shows clearly his aptitude and fitness to serve the Body of Christ to the glory of God.
In the life of this church, we have had no shortage of questions and scenarios offered up as excuses and exceptions to God's clear Word on the issue of Qualifications of those seeking Spiritual leadership and over the issues of divorce and remarriage. God's Word is simple and clear and we need to submit to it.
