Stealing the Son's Inheritance

Most of us have heard stories about people who got upset when they found out that little or nothing was left them in a last will and testament. Lawsuits get filed, and people try desperately to "set aside" the will so they can get a bigger portion of the estate. There is envy against the inheritors, and greedy attempts to snatch and claw away a piece of what's left after the dear departed is buried!

The New Covenant, which was executed in Jesus' blood on the Cross, was His last will and testament. In it, He promised forgiveness of sin, sanctification, and everlasting life to His loved ones, His inheriting brethren.

The blood of Jesus was the work He finished in order that the promises of the testament might be fulfilled.

How many of us know of instances where people have been left large estates in a will, only to discover that there is nothing left when the will is probated.

This was not going to happen to us as far as Jesus is concerned! He finished His saving work at Calvary, so that the promises of the New Testament could be fulfilled for us! In a sense, Christ's blood-shedding "funded" His estate left to us unto our salvation!

Then again, Jesus is the only man in all the world Who is the executor of His Own Will! That's because He ever lives to save us, and is interceding for us, making sure that the will's terms are fully carried out, and the benefits are applied to all His heirs!

Meanwhile, the wicked rulers of Israel sought to rob the Son of His inheritance, promised of old by the Father. He was promised the rule over the whole world. As in the parable Jesus told, wicked men sought to murder Him to seize His inheritance.

But He rose again!
