2. God's name expresses His glorious majesty, Psa 8:9
3. God's name expresses His goodness, Psa 54:6

• a. solicits thanksgiving

4. God's name expresses His great value, Pro 22:1
5. God's name expresses His gracious redemption, Ecc 7:1

B. His Holy Person
"hallowed by Your name" acknowledges…

1. that while the name of God is holy (Psa 33:21), sinful mankind has desecrated His name

• a. ἁγιάζω (hag-ee-AD-zō) make holy, purify, consecrate

2. that communion with God in prayer is by His amazing grace alone, and that He is of such impeccable holiness that we should greatly fear

C. Humble Application

1. humble communion with God in prayer is not ignorant of who He is (read God's Word daily)
2. humble communion with God in prayer instills godly fear
