What Fills Us, Leads Us — The Overflow of Influence

Whatever fills us... leads us. In my #NestingWithJesus reading today, I see three characters... and all three were "filled" differently. If you have a minute, read Luke 4 and I'll do my best to explain what I've noticed, and why I say, "Whatever fills us leads us." We have Jesus and He was FILLED with the Holy Spirit. Then there is Satan and he was FILLED with lies and deception. (We are taught that Satan is a liar and there is no truth in him, so all his works are filled with darkness.) And last we have the crowd that was FILLED with wrath. And with each one we see how their actions and attitudes were INFLUENCED and CONTROLLED by whatever filled them. Jesus was LED by the Spirit and He proclaimed truth, honored the Father, overcame temptations and walked in the power of the Spirit. Satan was INFLUENCED by his own agenda and continued his attempts to deceive and distract and dethrone God. And the crowd in the synagogue was enamored with Jesus and His gracious words --- until He got personal. When He started dealing with them about their heritage, and how God chose to bless foreigners rather than their families, anger and wrath begin to INFLUENCE their every move. They went from amazement to anger within minutes and were LED and manipulated by their wrath to harm and hurt the man they were in awe over, just a few minutes ago. Their wrath nullified the wonders of what they had previously heard and controlled their actions. The conclusion... whatever fills us leads us. Who or what is filling you? Therefore, who is influencing and leading you? Is it the Holy Spirit? Is it deception and lies, like anger or wr
