Our View of Religious Authority

Moses reminds the second generation of their obligation to the priests and the Levites in the Land of Canaan. A vital part of their understanding of the commandment to honor their father and mother is their learning to honor all the authorities that God has set up in their nation. After establishing the nature of kingly authority, Moses turns to religious authority. Jesus Christ is our perfect and unending religious authority and has accomplished our salvation – something no merely human priest could do.
