Conflicts Over The Sabbath

One of the big issues in the Christian life is the issue of Sabbath-keeping.

Our Lord dealt with this issue head-on, and the Pharisees hated Him for it.

1. UNDERSTAND THE SABBATH PRINCIPLE.
   Genesis 2:2-3; Exodus 20:8; Deuteronomy 5:14.

2. UNDERSTAND ALL THE COUNSEL OF GOD.
   Luke 13:14-16; 14:5-6; Mark 2:27-28; John 5:18.

3. UNDERSTAND RITUAL IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR REGENERATION.
   Numbers 15:32-36; 1 Samuel 21:1-6; Hosea 4:6.

The application for us today is to keep the Lord's Day holy. I realize that as Christians every day is holy unto the Lord, but the Lord's Day should be uniquely set apart as a day devoted entirely to the things of God. The principle: God created us and He knows we need a day for rest and worship.
