Jesus Sleeps, then Calms the Storm
Series The Gospel of Mark
93 ( 61 | 32 )
Perhaps no other narrative passage of the NT gives us such a clear picture of Jesus as a God-man as this passage about Jesus sleeping and then calming the storm. Why does Jesus sleep so soundly in the midst of a violent tempest? Because He is a man who is exhausted from long days and hard work. How then can He simply get up and command the storm to stop and it obey Him? Because He is God. Though it is understandable under normal circumstances for human sinners who have no guarantee of long life to be worried about violent storms and death, it was actually quite irrational for the disciples to be so worried. But unbelief is irrational. We will consider how.
