The Food Laws

1. What was the purpose of the food laws for Israel?

a. A holy people – set apart from the other nations.
b. The food laws were about ceremonial purity not moral purity.

2. Do these food laws apply to Christians today?

a. The NT church also called a peculiar people.
b. The distinction between clean and unclean animals is also known before the flood.
c. But God has now abrogated these food laws, with the whole ceremonial law. Made clear in many NT passages.
d. All foods are clean.
e. Dealing with differences – some Christians believe that they shouldn't eat certain foods.
