The Christian Race

In these two verses our author sets out the Christian life under the similitude of a race, with the saints of old as the crowd who cheer us on by their testimonies. As we run the course we do so with endurance, casting off everything that might trip us up or slow us down. Finally we run looking unto Jesus, our 'coach'. He is our example in the race, and we are to run as he ran, with the same attitude he had.
