How Not To Pray Like a Hypocrite

In applying the heart righteousness required of God's Holy Law to our consciences, the Lord Jesus in Matthew chapter 6 shows us our need for sanctified motives, and He gives three very tangible applications of this: in our charitable giving, in our prayers, and in our fasting. And as we come to our Lord's teaching on prayer we find that it is extremely practical. He tells us that we must not pray like hypocrites, nor should we pray like pagans, but we must pray as born again children of God. In this first message we explore this first negative, that we must not pray like hypocrites, who did not pray for the glory of God, but for the glory of themselves. May the Lord truly give us consecration in our motives, to always pray with the heart cry "Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but to Thy Name give glory." (Psalm 115:1)
