The Showdown

144

Confrontation is not a matter that peace-loving spirits want much to do with.

But because of their love for the Lord Jesus, and the testimony of God's cause, there are times in which it must be engaged.

Such is the case in 1st Samuel 15.

This is not the first time Samuel has had to reprimand Israel's first king, Saul. But this occasion was a 'bridge too far.'

In fact, this had become more than a confrontation. This had become A SHOWDOWN.

Things had come to a head here, and Samuel had to deal with a matter, and it finished up with terrible consequences for Saul.

Rev Elliott looks at this showdown and notices:

  1. THE OCCASION OF THE SHOWDOWN

i) The Commission Samuel Gave To Saul v3

ii) The Communication God Gave To Samuel v 10

  1. THE PROGRESSION OF THE SHOWDOWN

i) The Failure That Samuel Highlighted v 19

ii) The Forfeiture That Samuel Announced v 23,26,28

iii) The Forthrightness That Samuel Displayed v 27-29

  1. THE CULMINATION OF THE SHOWDOWN

i) The Slaying Of One King v 32,33

  1. The Separating From Another King v 34,35

There are many lessons to be learned from this passage, and we trust that these studies in 1st Samuel will be a great blessing to your soul.
