Children and Parents: Obedience and Stewardship

Children are to obey their parents. Obedience is to be accompanied by, and later followed by, the placing of a high value on your parents. Gentiles, in a post-Torah environment are being reminded the command to honor your parents was the first of the 10 commandments to be accompanied with a promise.

Fathers are addressed negatively and positively in their directions for parenting. Fathers are prohibited from a malpractice known here as “provoking anger” in their children. Set opposite of provocation to anger is nurturing children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
