Lsn #7

Israel incorrectly seeks the favor of the Lord of the Covenant, 1 Samuel 4:1-5.

Israel suffers a worse loss, 1 Samuel 4:6-11.

The Glory departs from the Covenant People, 1 Samuel 4:12-22.

Application.
We can come to God only by true repentance.
We must live holy before the world, as lights for His glory.
Do not doubt, the Judgment of Lord is real and will come.
When we abide in Christ, turning to Him, we experience His “Glory”, or presence!

Preparation for the next study: Read 1 Samuel 5 - 6.

  1. What was demonstrated about God when the ark was placed in the temple of Dagon?

  2. Why did no Philistine city desire to have the ark of the Lord?

  3. What did the Philistines learn by experience during that time?

  4. When do you think the Philistines were convinced the plagues were of the Lord?
