Balaam's Attempted Curses

438

Every time that Balaam attempted to curse Israel, a blessing came out instead.

What is the Biblical significance of a curse? From Leviticus 19:14 ("Thou shalt not curse the deaf, nor put a stumblingblock before the blind, but shalt fear thy God: I am the LORD."), we learn that a curse is as dangerous to a deaf man as a stumbling block is to somebody who is blind, and God views such unfair taking advantage of people very seriously.

As an introduction to Balaam's attempted curses in Numbers 23, this sermon takes a look at Proverbs 26:2; Zechariah 5:1-4; Judges 9; and Numbers 5:11-31.
