The danger of prosperity

65

“Prosper” means to push forward. And everyone wants to push forward. But motive matters greatly. We all want to succeed or prosper, nothing is wrong with that basic desire. But not all gain is good. Without God it doesn't mean much. We can take nothing with us. We will fight over treasure that is of this world. This is just stuff and for some that's all they got. They don't have God and some of us leave God out of the stuff and that's a danger. This perverted desire leads to the more you got the more you want. All that want leads other things out of line. In Uzziah's case he prospered, winning victory after victory because he sought God. But pride crept in with his prosperity; until his head swelled too much. Nothing wrong with prosperity but danger is waiting for our miss step. And for Uzziah it cost him the throne and his family. All his gains wiped out all because he didn't continuously humble himself before God. His prayer life is not recorded, unlike some. So not even a prayer for forgiveness is seen. Too much pride brought him down hard. God blesses but if we don't stay right He will correct us to help us to see the danger of letting prosperity get the better of us.
