Manner Matters

As you talk to people about the gospel, you need to remember that there are two things that won't work:

1. you cannot manipulate people into becoming Christians;
2. you cannot argue people into becoming Christians!

As long as you think of people as basically good, rational folk who just need a little prodding in the right direction, you will not understand what you are dealing with day to day.

The problem with humanity is far worse than we want to admit. Humanity is in bondage. Humanity is dead in sin.

And it is only because the Word has become flesh and dwelt among us – it is only because of the resurrection of the offspring of David – that God is now bringing the dead to life through the preaching of Paul's gospel...
