Jacob: Blessed Exceedingly Abundantly Above

100

NTRODUCTION: Although this lesson may seem anticlimactic, God fulfilled His blessings on Joseph and rewarded him for his faithfulness. As for us, our final reward will come in heaven (1 Peter 1:4). Yet, we can be sure that our God will make all things work out to the good of those who love Him.

CONCLUSION: We cannot give more to the Lord than He gives back to us in return (Malachi 3:10; Luke 6:38). We can rest assured that if we give our lives and possessions to the Lord He will make it every seeming sacrifice worthwhile in the end.

o Practical Questions
 The blessing of a double portion belonged to Reuben, but because of his unfaithfulness, it was given to Joseph. What are some of the things that we might do that could lead to a loss of God’s blessings?
 Jacob never expected to see Joseph’s face again, but God did above and beyond what Jacob thought and allowed him to see Joseph and his seed. What has God done for you that went above what you could have ever thought or imagined (Ephesians 3:20)?
 Joseph saw that his father had placed his right hand on Ephraim instead of Manasseh (the firstborn) and he tried to correct him. How many times does our heavenly Father do something and we think that we know better and try to correct what He has done?
