A Light Has Dawned

319 ( 103 | 216 )

In the days of Isaiah, God promised that for those walking in darkness, distress and fear, there would be no more gloom... for those living in the land of the shadow of death, a light would dawn. So sure of God's faithfulness in this promise, Isaiah writes of these things in the past tense, as if they had already been fulfilled. We live in the days of fulfillment, where all God's promises find their 'yes' in Christ Jesus and so there is no need for us to walk in darkness any longer, 'a light has dawned'! With this light, who is Christ himself, there is abundant joy, blessing and provision. Being purified from all sin by the blood of Jesus, we can share in Isaiah's assurance and in genuine fellowship with one another, even in this present evil age. 'The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.'
