Introduction to the Pharisees

For the first time, Luke introduces us to the Pharisees (and scribes and teachers of the law), who will be following, criticizing and plotting against Jesus throughout this gospel. Who where they? What did they believe? Why did they oppose Jesus? And. most importantly of all, what can we learn from them?
