The Baptizing Lamb

In the gospel records the accounts of the birth of Jesus are followed by the call and preaching of John the Baptist, who preached repentance in view of the coming Kingdom. In particular he preached that Coming One would not merely baptise in water, but in the Holy Spirit and fire. It is none other than Jesus, as the Lamb of God, who is referred to, and so we are assured that the baptism of the Spirit of which John speaks is from the Lamb of God who cleanses us, and for the proclamation of that great work amongst the nations.
