The Hope of Immanuel - The Hope of Deliverance

Of all the biblical themes associated with the Christmas season, for many Christians the one that most readily comes to mind is that of "Immanuel." For Christmas finds its focal point in the Incarnation of Christ, and the divine Son taking upon Himself our humanity is the ultimate, eschatological fulfillment of the principle of Immanuel, which is to say, "God with us." This sermon examines the Immanuel prophecy of Isaiah 7 within its historical context in order to better understand the significance of its fulfillment in Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of David.
