Paul's Theology Blast

I will call this text Paul's sudden blast of theology. He moves radically from the mundane topic of church government to the mystery of godliness.

By the mystery of godliness, He means the revelation of God's way to make sinners godly. That's what the gospel is. The gospel scheme is God's way of taking a filthy sinner and presenting him one day in glory without spot and without blemish.

How can it be? To the mind of man it is a mystery. The gospel is a fantastic freaky notion. Why would God work contrary to his own character and stoop so low to pick up a worthless worm out of the dunghill of sin to bring him or her into heaven?
