Covetousness and Contentment

152

Contentment and covetousness cannot cohabit the same heart. They are direct opposites. Covetousness is ungoverned desires that control the mind and life. Contentment is when we are satisfied and at peace with what we have, where we are, and where we are headed. Covetousness is the mother of sins, as it is the first step toward every sin. Contentment is a learned art. It is the result of victory in the spiritual battle. It is when our heart and mind together are completely yielded to God's truth. The heart is the seat of our desires and the source of covetousness. The heart will yield if the mind will hold onto the truth long enough, and then we will know true contentment.
